No One Is Gatekeeping Your Future

No one is gatekeeping your future. It’s in your hands now, if you want it.

I keep coming back to this because the evidence keeps piling up. NVIDIA just put a set of serious AI courses online for free, the kind of training that used to sit behind a tuition bill. Sandeep Gulati made the point that the people who take them will pull ahead, not because they learned which buttons to push, but because they’ll understand how the thing actually works. He’s right. I’d push it one step further.

The free knowledge is only worth what you build with it.

That’s where people get stuck. We’ve been trained to treat learning as the finish line. Take the course, collect the certificate. But the certificate was never the point. The point is what you can make now that you couldn’t make before.

And something has genuinely changed about this moment. The cost of production is moving to zero. Right now, today, the distance between having an idea and holding the finished thing in your hands is a few taps on a keyboard. The thing you’d have needed a developer and a six-week budget to build, you can rough out this afternoon.

That changes what your value even is.

For a long time, the way you proved you knew something was to talk about it. Write the post, give the talk. That still counts for something. But talking about what you know is worth less than it used to be, because everyone can talk now, and the tools can talk better than most of us. Handing someone a tool that does the thing, built on what you know, is worth more than it ever has.

You don’t need to be a founder. You don’t need to quit and chase a startup dream. You need to turn your value into something a person can pick up and use. A small tool someone can run. A workflow that quietly kills a problem your whole team has worked around for years.

The knowledge is free and sitting right there. The barrier isn’t access anymore. The only thing between you and the thing you could build is whether you decide to build it.

So take the free courses. Then go build the one thing only you could build.
